Implant Dentures – Nocatee, FL
A Reliable Way to Rebuild Your Smile
When permanent teeth are lost, the jaw begins to thin because there are fewer roots to stimulate additional bone growth with each bite down. That means traditional dentures can eventually become destabilized or dislodged as they can no longer form a tight enough bond to remain firmly in place.
If you are seeking a more reliable way to rebuild your smile, you might be a good candidate for implant dentures. Continue reading to learn more about this treatment option, and please feel free to contact us to schedule a consultation.

What Are Implant Dentures?
This treatment combines the longevity and resilience of dental implants with the convenience of dentures. It involves surgically placing the required number of support rods into your jaw, which will eventually anchor a lifelike set of replacement teeth that can be customized to resemble your natural enamel and connective tissues.
Before proceeding, you must consult one of our providers to ensure you’re a good candidate. We’ll need to examine your dental condition and verify that your jawbone is strong enough to support your new teeth. Then, based on our findings, we might recommend one of the following options:
Fixed/Permanent Implant Dentures
These restorations involve placing four to eight dental implants to hold a set of dentures that is not intended to be removed, except by a professional for repairs or replacement. This rebuilds your arches more permanently, and there’s no need to worry about removing and replacing your prosthetics for cleanings.
Removable Implant Dentures
Sometimes referred to as ‘snap-on dentures’, these implants use clips (bar-retained) or ball sockets (ball-retained) to hold a specially designed restoration that can be taken out when needed and must be removed to be thoroughly cleaned twice daily.
The Implant Denture Process
Our team has the specialized training and advanced technology to perform each step of the process in the office, including oral surgery. We’ll begin by numbing your mouth with a local anesthetic to help you feel comfortable. Then, once the medication kicks in, we’ll make sutures in your gums to place the posts of your dental implants.
It can take 3 to 6 months to recover as your mouth must produce enough new bone growth to fuse with them in a process called osseointegration. Once you’ve healed sufficiently, you will need a second, more minor procedure to place the abutments, or connector pieces.
Then, we will make digital impressions of your teeth and gums that can be shared with a dental laboratory, where they are used to design a customized set of dentures to anchor to your implants. Once your new teeth are delivered, we’ll schedule an appointment to ensure they fit and function correctly before attaching them to your implants.
Am I a Candidate for Implant Dentures?
For this procedure to be successful, your jawbone must be dense enough to support your prosthetics. If it’s not, an additional bone graft procedure may be required to strengthen it enough to continue.
Ideal candidates also have demonstrated a commitment to oral health, such as maintaining a twice-daily dental hygiene routine, to help prevent potential complications, like decay, disease, or infection.
You must also be healthy enough to successfully undergo oral surgery, which isn’t always recommended if you have other medical conditions, such as diabetes, severe periodontal disease, or are in the first trimester of pregnancy.
Benefits of Combining Dentures & Dental Implants
There are several excellent reasons to consider getting implant dentures, including:
- Customizable materials. Your new teeth are made from realistic materials designed to look and feel as lifelike as possible.
- Boosted confidence. You’ll be able to enjoy meals and conversations knowing your teeth are firmly rooted and are unlikely to become destabilized or dislodged.
- Preserve your jawbone. Dental implants are the only treatment that stimulates your jawbone to help keep it active and healthy, preventing degeneration.
- Support your facial structure. Protecting your jawbone also supports your facial structure, helping to avoid sunken cheeks, a protruding chin, and additional wrinkles.
- Long-lasting results. Your implants can last 20+ years if cared for correctly, making this an excellent long-term solution to restore your smile.
