Targeting the Infection to Produce Healthier Gums

It is believed that one out of every two adults in the United States has gum disease. This common oral health problem often goes undetected or dismissed by patients, resulting in advanced cases that require timely professional help. At Palm Leaf Dental, we believe in the importance of early detection, which is why we use scaling and root planing to target the infection and eventually produce healthier gums. Call us if you notice bleeding, inflammation, or tenderness when brushing or flossing.

Scaling & Root Planing

When the infection spreads beneath the gumline, gum pockets can begin to form, easily trapping bacteria and food particles. To avoid further damage to the bone and teeth, we can recommend a two-part process known as scaling and root planing. By removing plaque and tartar from teeth and gums as well as smoothing out the roots of your teeth for healthy reattachment, your gums will have a better chance of healing and thriving over time.
