It takes just about anybody by surprise when it happens, and that sudden shock could send you into a tailspin, especially if you can\u2019t locate the filling right away. How do you handle this particular dental emergency<\/a>? No sweat \u2013 we\u2019ve got your guide right here for what to do if you lose a tooth filling.<\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Find the Filling If Possible<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

When you first notice your filling has fallen out, look for it if you can do so safely. If you find it, rinse it gently with clean water and place it in a small, clean container. Bring it to your dental appointment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Your dentist can determine whether the filling is intact and whether it provides useful information about what happened. However, don’t worry if you can’t find it. You don’t necessarily need the old filling for your dentist to treat the tooth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
